ADULT BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

VOYAGER SERIES - SUNDAY MORNINGS

VOYAGE QUEST (Voyager 101) – NEW SESSION!

Visitors, people new to the Lutheran Christian faith, and those seeking a refresher course in God’s promises to us and how we as a body of Christ understand and celebrate them – YOU are invited to join leader Jon Deer (Grace elder and soon-to-be seminary student) to help you begin your journey of faith growth as a Lutheran Christian and learn about church membership at Grace.  The class will help you understand what we believe and teach through a study of foundational Bible teachings.  Plus, you will come to know the vision and purpose of Grace Lutheran Church and School.   This 18 week course meets Sundays in the Senior’s Room in the Family Life Center  from 9:40-10:30am (starts April 29th).

TWO NEW VOYAGER ADULT COURSES!…

THE “I AM” STATEMENTS OF JESUS

Ever wonder about the “I am” statements of Jesus in John’s Gospel? I have … and now I am going to take the time to unravel them one-by-one over seven weeks. Some of these statements are fairly easy to grasp. We kind of know about the “Way, the Truth, and the Life” statement because we hear of it so often. And the “I am the Resurrection and the Life” statement is often promoted around Easter. Calling Jesus the “Good Shepherd” is fairly easy to get our minds around also. But what is this “door” stuff and this “bread of life” and the “vine” stuff? What is that all about? Come and let’s discover together during morning Bible Study with Pastor Rick on seven Sundays of spring.

 1) April 29 - “I am the Bread of Life” (John 6:30-35)

2) May 6 - “I am the Light of the World” (John 8:12)

3) May 13 - “I am the Door” (John 10:7-9)

4) May 20 - “I am the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11-18)

5) June 3 - “I am the Resurrection and the Life” (John 11:17-26)

6) June 10 - “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:5-6)

7) June 17 - “I am the True Vine” (John 15:1-5)

PRAYER

“Prayer is a powerful weapon.  It is an indispensable weapon.  It takes practice to wield it.  It takes courage and time and spiritual energy.”  Elisabeth Elliot

Using the Bible, the catechism, and the hymnbook this six week study, which is part of Concordia’s new Lutheran Spirituality series, will lead participants in exploring the work and blessing of prayer so as to learn more of God’s intent for this precious gift and increase your comfort in using it.  Join elder Freddy Crespo as he leads this course through May.

MIDWEEK MEAL & Bible studies  6-8pm

Men’s Ministry – Bible Study and Prayer

Men of Grace and friends are invited to come together Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm to dig into Scripture by studying the weekly upcoming sermon text together.   The world is in dire need of godly men and here is the place to grow as one -  God is calling you to be faithful students of the Bible and prayer warriors on behalf of your families and His hurting people!  Come to sharpen and encourage one another in conversation and prayer and to be fed and strengthened by Word and study.  A variety of  studies according to group member interests will come in later months.  Bring a friend and your Bible and join us in the Family Life Center on Wednesdays!

Women’s Ministry – ’Bad Girls of the Bible - Book 2'

Women of Grace and friends are invited to come together Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm to explore the lives and lessons of faith experienced by some of the Bible’s most colorful women – come see how God stirred a change of heart and new life in them as He does for us still today!  This study is led by Darla Beckwith in the Senior Saints Room.

Church Plant Small Group Bible Study ~ Book of Acts

Steve Kovac, leader of the ‘Grace South’ church plant team, would like to extend an invitation to members of the core church plant group and any other people to share in small group Bible study on Wednesdays from 7-8 pm in the FLC gym.  We will be studying the New Testament book of Acts which is the recording of the beginnings of the early Christian – quite appropriate and useful as we prepare to plant a church!  Childcare and Bible classes for children are available (plus fellowship dinner at 6pm).  Anyone is welcome!
