Hello! I’m Michael Popp and I teach 7th
grade religion, math, science, and health, as well as 6th grade math
and health and 5th grade science and health. I also serve as our Athletic Director and
varsity basketball coach.
I am a product of Immanuel Lutheran School
in Freeport, Illinois where I was born and raised and
graduated high school. I attended Concordia College in Seward, NE
where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration
in math. I taught 6th grade for two years at Immanuel in Columbus,
NE and then 7th grade for five years at Trinity in Davenport,
IA.
My wife Jessa is also a Concordia Seward
graduate. She teaches 3rd grade here at Grace and taught in Lutheran
schools for seven years. We have been married for almost nine years, and we
have two boys: Peyton, who will be seven, and Addison who is
five. All of our immediate family lives in the Midwest in Illinois,
Minnesota, and Nebraska.
I love the ministry opportunities here to serve
the Lord at Grace. If you are looking for a way to serve in the area of
athletics, please come and talk to me. I
also would like to invite all basketball players to join us on Wednesdays from
6:00 to 7:30 in the morning, Saturday mornings from 7:30 to 9:00, and Sunday
evenings from 6:30 to 8:00. If
basketball isn’t your thing, we play Volleyball Sunday afternoons from 4:30 to
6:00.
