In fifth grade we LOVE to discuss and explore space, inventions, habitats,
graphing, decimals, equations, United States history, the Israelites' journey,
nouns, metaphors, paraphrasing and a whole bunch more! We discuss anything and
everything, which means we are constantly wondering about God and his
creation. We try everyday to find God and SHOW God in everything we do. We
realize that everyone is a sinner and that everyone needs grace and mercy.
With the Holy Spirit’s help we try to LIVE God’s word, not just hear it!
My name is Darla Beckwith and I teach fifth grade at Grace Lutheran School. I earned by Bachelor’s
degree in Elementary Education at Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois. My first call
was to Redeemer Lutheran School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grade
there for 3 years. I look forward to my new ministry of teaching here at Grace.
I am originally from Clintonville, Wisconsin. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Many of them are married,
and so I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews, with another nephew on the way soon! I am very close with my family,
who all still live in Wisconsin, so I take frequent trips up there!
As you can probably guess, it was very different growing up in Wisconsin! There was snow, snow, and more
snow for a lot of the year, but that never stopped us from going out and cheering for the GREEN and GOLD
(Green Bay Packers for you non-fans)! Yes, I am your typical cheesehead, rooting loudly wherever I am!
I enjoy exploring the great love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with my students. No matter what the
subject matter, we can always find His amazing presence!!!
