Dear Friends in Christ! My name is Jessa Popp and I am the third grade teacher at Grace Lutheran Church and School.
I am a mid-western girl; I grew up in small town Nebraska. I have lived in Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa as well. During my years at Freeport High School, in Freeport, Illinois, I met my husband of 12 years, Michael. We have two boys, Peyton (11) and Addison (9).
I attended college at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, concentrating in physical education and minoring in math. I also received my Lutheran Teaching Degree. The first call I received was to Christ Lutheran in Columbus, NE, teaching a 1st – 2nd combination class and serving as Athletic Director. My second call lead both my husband and I to Davenport, IA. There I taught 3rd grade, coached 5th-6th grade girl’s basketball, and assisted the 7th-8th grade girl’s volleyball team. We spent 5 years serving our church and school before a call to Grace Lutheran for my husband lead us to Jacksonville. I spent one year at Guardian Lutheran teaching a 4th-5th grade homeroom and 3rd-7th grade science and social studies before accepting the call to teach third grade at Grace. I am currently assisting with the girl’s volleyball team and coaching basketball.
In my free time I love reading, spending time with my husband and children, and participating in various sports (volleyball, basketball, bowling, and softball). I am very excited about serving Grace Lutheran Church and School and watching the children and families grow in their faith. What a wonderful “Place of Grace” this truly is.
